Over the past couple years, superhero movies have quickly become very popular. Companies like Marvel and DC have released many highly anticipated movies, and some of them have even been released on Netflix; that means hours of action packed entertainment! Captain America: Civil War (2016)

Definitely one of Marvel’s more anticipated films, Captain America: Civil War puts the Avengers up against each other as they both fight for what they think is right. Throughout the movie, viewers are continuously wondering if the Avengers will come together, or ultimately destroy each other. So if you’re looking for a nerve racking plot, some comedy, and a whole lot of action, put this at the top of your list!

Fantastic Four (2005)

Marvel just released a newer version of the Fantastic Four movie, but that one isn’t on Netflix (it’s okay though, this one’s better). The story follows four friends who all gain superpowers when an accident occurs in the space station that they’re staying in. When they return to Earth, they band together and use their new found superpowers to protect their city. This movie is full of comedy, action, and even a little bit of romance. Fantastic Four is a great option if you’re looking for a movie that everyone will enjoy!

Superman: The Movie (1978)

If you’re looking for a throwback, then Netflix has exactly what you’re looking for! Superman: The Movie is the first in a long line of DC’s Superman movies. In this film, Clark Kent, aka Superman, has to defeat his enemy Lex Luthor while falling in love with Lois Lane. The movie starts out at the beginning of Superman’s journey as a superhero, so it’s a good one to start out with if you’re planning on watching the rest!

Superman Returns (2006)

And after you’re finished watching the original Superman movie, you can also watch Superman Returns on Netflix! When Superman comes back to Earth, he finds that Lois Lane has moved on and Lex Luthor is once again trying to take over the world. You’re guaranteed to enjoy this continuation of a classic!

Batman (1966)

Speaking of classics, Netflix has Batman, the first superhero movie ever! This one is perfect if you’re a fan of action and old movies. And instead of focusing on one villain, Batman and his sidekick Robin fight multiple different enemies throughout the movie. Sky High (2005)

If you have kids (or just miss those good ole’ Disney Channel days), Sky High is a great option. When Will Stronghold, the son of famous superheroes, attends a special high school for kids with powers, he is put with the sidekicks since his powers haven’t developed yet. He struggles with keeping up the family legacy, and figuring out how to deal with the disaster that is about to strike the school. Disney Channel originals are always good, so you won’t be disappointed!

Antboy (2013)

Another kid friendly option is Antboy. When a boy is bitten by an ant, he gets mysterious powers and decides to create his own secret identity and use his powers to fight evil. This movie is family-friendly and exciting. It’s bound to please everyone during a family movie night!

Antboy: Revenge of the Red Fury (2014)

If your family was a fan of the first Antboy movie, then you’ll love the sequel! One of Antboy’s biggest fans, is now his worst enemy. After their romantic relationship doesn’t work out, Red Fury wants to get revenge on him. It’s another perfect superhero option for a family movie night!

Ultimate Avengers: The Movie (2006)

If you’re into comic books and animation, then you’ll enjoy Ultimate Avengers: The Movie. In this movie, Captain America creates a team of super soldiers to go up against the extraterrestrial menace. Although this movie is shorter, it’s still action packed and exciting!

Turbo Kid (2015)

If you’re looking for a more mature option, look no further than Turbo Kid. This TV-MA rated movie follows a teenage boy who makes himself a superhero. He does so to save one of his friends when she’s in trouble. Netflix describes this movie as “offbeat” and “violent”, so this is the perfect choice if you’re looking for something besides the normal superhero movie.
