You may have heard of Herman Webster Mudgett, born May 16, 1861 in Gilmanton, New Hampshire. He was born to an affluent family. Herman took a strong interest in medicine, wanting to become a doctor. Herman’s interest in medicine led him to experiment on animals.

It wasn’t until much later that we would know exactly who Herman Webster Mudgett was. Once we actually found out who he was, we wish would could take it back. Herman Webster Mudgett was unlike any other.

So maybe you do know the name Herman Webster Mudgett– Maybe you are more familiar with the name Dr. Henry H. Holmes or H.H. Holmes.

H.H. Holmes was the man that was notorious for murdering countless people. Among murdering countless people, he also was a con artist. He was great at coming up with a plan, a plot to get what he wanted. H.H. Holmes built a castle, his dream home. It was a place for him to be himself.

It was also believed that H.H. Holmes was one in the same with Jack the Ripper. The serial killer that adorned the streets of London in the late 1800’s mutilating and killing women. While it was never proven and likely won’t be proven, the idea was tossed around that the two men were one in the same.

If you’ve seen the documentary on Netflix titled, H.H. Holmes: America’s First Serial Killer, then you know that this chilling documentary will suck you in with facts and gore. The documentary is an hour and four minutes long.

The documentary is not for the weak. If you are sensitive to chilling stories like skinning of humans, selling of human bones, and gassing victims, then this documentary is not for you to watch.

The castle that H.H. Holmes built in the late 1800’s was a masterpiece of sorts for it’s time. There were false doors, circular hallways, and secret chambers that were built for a specific reason. The reasoning for Murder Castle is gory and wrong.
