American television series, Shadowhunters is set to premiere on January 12, 2016 and Netflix has already gained rights to stream the show a day after on January 13.
The streaming service gained the global rights to stream Constantin Film’s The Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments, except in US. The original series will air globally a day after its release on ABC Family in the United States with its episodes to release weekly.
The show is based on Cassandra Clare’s best-selling book series The Mortal Instruments. The series will chronicle the story of Clary Fray (atherine McNamara) who finds out her blood line to come from Shadowhunters – humans born with angelic blood who care about the world and protect them from devils, on her 18th birthday. Clary starts a new life of hunting the evil after her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped by a enemy from the past. She is guided by Shadowhunter Jace Wayland (Dominic Sherwood) and lives among vampires, werewolves, faeries and warlocks to discover more about her past and the unfolding future.
With average response from the critics, the show looks promising in several aspects of its visual thrills and potential-rich premise while it’s also expected to have dull and convoluted plots that could turn away the attention of its viewers.
Exec produced by Robert Kulzer, Ed Decter, Bob Shaye, Mary Viola, Michael Lynne and Michael Reisz, Shadowhunters is co-exec produced by Marjorie David and Margo Klewans, while it is produced by Don Carmody, Martin Moszkowicz and David Carmican.
