Mascots, Another Fan Favorite!

Christopher Guest Has Nailed It Again!

Mascots is a new Netflix Original from director/comedian/screenwriter Christopher Guest.   Guest series of films began with This Is Spinal Tap (directed by Rob Reiner), and continued with Waiting for GuffmanBest In Show and now Mascots (just to mention a few).

As a Christopher Guest fan, I’m very excited for this. It’s a classic Guest scenario, with the same Guest cast -Paul K.

Christopher Guest is well known for his style of comedy films shot in mock-documentary (mockumentary) style.   In these, mockumentaries the scenes and character backgrounds are written, but actors have no rehearsal time and the scene is  improvised during filming.

What’s the plot?  I’m not sure if it’s suppose to be funny or dumb? – Matt L.

The movie follows contestants in a competition called World Mascot Association Championship, in which they are competing for the GOLD FLUFFY AWARD.  It is absolutely suppose to be funny!  The humor is borderline dumb but that’s what it’s suppose to be as it pokes fun at the type of person under the costume.

Is this the made by the same people that made Best In Show?  The actors are the same.- Mandy J.

Christopher Guest actors are used in more then one film.  Comparing Best in Show and Mascots we clearly see all the actors/actresses that are appearing in both which include:  Bob Balaban, Ed Begley Jr, Jennifer Coolidge, John Michael Higgins, Michael Hitchcock, Don Lake, Jane Lynch and Chris O’Dowd all starred in both films.

Rotten Tomatoes,  a website that represents professional critics reviews which has given Mascots a 51% rating  and an average rating of 5.6 out of 10 based on the published opinions.

If it’s Christopher Guest, it’s got to be good! -Chuck W
