Originally airing in 1965, Lost in Space was an American sci-fi show created by Irwin Allen. He created a family planning on exploring space, visiting distant planets. Their goal? Saving the human population on Earth. Unfortunately, their plans are sabotaged by an evil man called Dr. Zachary Smith. Because of this, the family — and Dr. Smith — are stranded in space, looking for ways to get back to Earth. Now, Netflix has decided to give the beloved campy show a new life.

It isn’t any surprise that Netflix would make a reboot of Lost in Space. The trailer is sure to give you goosebumps upon hearing “Danger Will Robinson!” It will be interesting to see how the Netflix series will handle the reboot for those who have been fans of the original show. Problems on Earth, space travel, family drama and evil villains. What trouble could possibly happen?

Lost in Space — A Look Into the Past

During the trailer, it seems like Netflix is giving us a glimpse of what happens to our world. The Robinson family look to have actually left Earth because of an unforeseen problem.

In the original series of Lost in Space, created by Irwin Allen, the space drama features a family who are thrown off course by evil Dr. Zachary Smith. Professor John Robinson (Guy Williams), his family and Major Don West (Mark Goddard) are selected to go to a planet in the Alpha Centauri system. They hope to establish a colony so that the people of Earth are able to settle there. Dr. Zachary Smith, a spy for an enemy government, sabotages the mission while being a stowaway aboard the Jupiter 2, their ship.

Unfortunately, he is successful in reprogramming the ships computer, that it causes them to be lost in space, trying to find their way back. Not a bad plot for a show, right?

Fans of the original Lost in Space should be amazed by the stunning visuals of the reboot. Set 30 years into the future, the Robinson family are tested and selected to be sent into space to make a better life for themselves. Of course, they find themselves abruptly set off course to their new home. Now they must make alliances while stranded on an alien-environment, light years away from the original destination. Here is where the drama happens. There are two outsiders stranded with them! Dr. Smith (Parker Posey), master manipulator and Don West (Ignacio Serricchio), a skilled contractor who had no intentions of joining the colony.

“Danger Will Robinson!” — Lost in Space Trailer

Even though the trailer is only a minute and a half long, it seems to give the gist of what the reboot will be like. Everyone who has seen the original series remembers the robot. Because, in the trailer (featured below), you get to hear it, but not see it, there are a lot of questions about it. And let me tell you, the voice is a little unsettling and creepy. Is this intentional?

It is unsure, but one thing is for sure, the Lost in Space reboot is sure to be visually stunning with a cast who can take their characters on an amazing journey through space. Netflix announced that the 10 episodes will start streaming April 13.

Will you be one of the many who join those watching Lost in Space?
